Versace for H&M

Versace for H&M will arrive in stores on November 19

There are tons of designer collaborations flooding the marketplace lately, but the upcoming Versace for H&M collection, launching November 19, really piqued my interest. Designer Donatella Versace is known for her flamboyant styles, silhouette, and color palette, so bringing this aesthetic to a mass market retailer may be lost in translation. Women and men went crazy for the recent diffusion Missoni for Target line, another color and pattern explosion, but the price point on those items were quite low. 

The Versace for H&M line starts at $17.95 for boxer briefs and goes up to $299 for a studded leather dress and unlike the Missoni gear it’s only available in stores. (Prices for individual items are not yet available -- c’mon H&M, hurry up with the stateside e-commerce!) With these price tags we imagine the real consumers here will be fans of the Versace brand who aren’t opposed to kaleidoscope and palm tree prints, but if you’re willing to shell out there are some wearable dresses, skirts, and even classy suits for men. There are also a number of accessories like shoes, jewelry, belts, and scarves, and even a few home goods thrown in the mix. 

I will be standing in line for this for sure. I'm sure the Dallas H&M is going to be bananas just like the opening weekend for the store. I'm really excited about some of these pieces.

Wiz Khalifa gave his boo Amber Rose a surprised birthday party over the weekend to celebrate her 29^th birthday. The couple got all fly and flashy to enjoy the special occasion at Eden Nightclub in Hollywood, California. Amber was sporting a new hair do to go along with that stunning red lip.

Amber Rose is quite fashionable and I love to see what she's wearing next.
She's definitely a trend setter in the fashion world and I also love a great black mesh dress. You can get this look as well.

Understanding your man’s mood swings

Women definitely need to check out this article I found on Yahoo today. Who knew I was asking for these things at the wrong time of day!!! How frustrating... Wish I had looked into this sooner. I wonder if there is a version for men as well to find out when to talk to women. I would bet money that there isn't, us women are too emotional to fit into this time clock. LOL Enjoy...

Trying to figure out the best time to broach a touchy topic, ask your guy a favor or convince him to do something you know he’ll dread? It’s easier than you think —if you learn how to tune in to his body clock, says Gabrielle Lichterman, founder of the Hormonology blog and coauthor of 28 Days. While we all know that women usually experience hormone-induced mood swings on a monthly basis, Lichterman attests that men, too, are affected by hormonal highs and lows — only their levels fluctuate daily. Want to get his hormones working for you? Follow this timing guide: 

Need to move, negotiate, or fix something? Ask him for help between 9-12 a.m.
It should come as no surprise that guys wake up bursting with testosterone. And aside from the obvious frisky factor, this surge in hormones makes him feel ambitious and determined, says Lichterman. This is the perfect time to ask him for a favor, particularly one that makes him feel like Mr. Fix-It. Buying a car? Indulge his competitive streak and drag him along to help you haggle with the salesman and score a great deal. Or you can cash in on his peak in spatial thinking by asking him to help move your couch or measure your closet space. He’ll feel heroic, and you’ll reap the benefits.

If you want him to agree to your plans, mention them between 3-4 p.m.

Trying to convince him to sign up for dancing lessons, commit to your new book club or otherwise agree to do something that would normally send your man screaming in the opposite direction? Then this late-afternoon window is the perfect opportunity, says Lichterman, since his super-low testosterone levels will make him mellow and amenable to pretty much anything you throw on the table. 

Broach a touchy topic by chatting with him between 8-10 p.m.

At this time each evening, another hormone called oxytocin — a.k.a. the “cuddle hormone,” due to its bond-inducing effects — is on the rise in his bloodstream, says Lichterman. That means this two-hour time slot is a prime opportunity to resolve any lingering spats (“It hurt my feelings that you didn’t call today”) or get a grievance off your chest (“Will you please shave your goatee?”). You’ll probably get met with nothing but a sincere apology and the promise to change his ways. Sure, his sweetness may be as much due to timing as a true desire to please you, but hey, who cares — as long as your wish is his command?

DIY Gold Leaf Faux Jewelry

I had to repost this because it's so fly and I def wanna try this on my hand, wrist, or arm. This could be a great thing to add into my Wonder Woman costume for Halloween. I'm really excited! What do you think about this?

Inspired by a shoot styled by Mandy of Oracle Fox where gold leaf was applied in the form of makeup and jewelry, I immediately had to try it myself. It’s an instantaneous and temporary solution for a lack of bling. Plus, it looks super fly! This technique may even come in handy this Halloween season when you decide you’ll want to dress up as a Fendi-bot . . . or C-3P0.

You’ll need:

• one sheet of imitation gold leaf
• spirit gum or non toxic liquid adhesive
• a foam brush
• tape

Start by cutting the sheet of gold leaf into half inch strips. Use scotch tape to tape off an area of the skin.

The gold leaf will not adhere to anything without an adhesive agent so an application of spirit gum is necessary. Apply a coat of spirit gum. (Spirit gum, which is normally used for affixing wigs and fake mustaches, is a great non-toxic solution and can be found at most speciality stage makeup stores or Ricky’sin New York.) With a foam brush, dap the spirit gum until it becomes tacky.

Pick up a strip of gold leaf and press the gold side onto the tacky area with pressure. Remove the strip and repeat the steps until the whole area is covered.

Remove the tape and use your fingers to smooth out any loose flakes. The gold leaf should stay on for at least 8-10 hours. Spirit gum remover or rubbing alcohol can be used to remove it if necessary.

Voila! You’re rocking gold leaf!!

Kanye West Debuts New Womenswear Line ‘Dw’ In Paris

Kanye West debuted his highly anticipated Womenswear Ready -to -Wear collection earlier today in Paris to mixed reviews (hey he’s a rapper so the criticism is definitely going to be tough). Recognizable Models such as Chanel Iman, Jourdan Dunn, Abbey Lee Kershaw and Karlie Kloss hit the runway in the new ‘Dw’ collection, named after Kanye’s mother Donde West who passed in 2007. Kanye enlisted the help of British deisnger Louise Goldin and Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci to assist him in bringing his vision to life.

The front row was star studded with the likes of Ciara, The Olsen Twins, Lindsey Lohan, Anna Wintour and Jared Leto as well as designers Sylvia Fendi, Alexander Wang, Jeremy Scott, Joseph Altuzarra, and Dean and Dan Caton of Dsquared. Kanye West reportedly used the sounds of Waka Flocka Flame as the models walked down the runway in a mixture of fur and leather as well as hooded and bondage style dresses with some critics pointing out the influence of Givenchy and Balmain on the collection.  After the show, Kanye told reporters:

I’m so scared, I’m so nervous.
The biggest conversation I hope I can end tonight is the whole ‘celebrity designer’ thing/ That’s the biggest hurdle when you want to get amazing people to work for you.”

Ciara reacted to the collection backstage by saying:

“He did a great job. I walked away from this show feeling like I would love to wear this line. There is so much in it that’s right up my alley. Especially since for me, it’s so cool to see someone come from our music world and do something like this. It’s really hard

And Jeremy Scott had some great things to say as well:

Everyone probably thought it was going to be another like Jennifer Lopez’s Macy’s line and it’s not, it’s really clear it’s not. Kanye has impeccable taste and you see his taste level is up there. He’s a fan of design across the board. I have five-hour long conversations with him all the time about everything because he’s so obsessed, and I think we got a little bit of an insight into his mind there
